Internships are available from May to August. An internship entails measuring discharge from irrigation wells located in the Snake River Plain Aquifer. Training is provided on the use of ultrasonic flowmeters and thickness gauges, the types of irrigation methods, how to calculate discharge, and safe work practices. Internships may include field data entry on the Idaho Department of Water Resources database, GIS mapping, and geologic mapping. Interns have the opportunity to work with a licensed professional geologist and become more familiar with careers in hydrology.
